Join us as our Assistant Controller. This is a new role on our team leading, overseeing, and coaching three teams: Payroll, Subcontractor Financial Analysis, and Field Accounting. Sellen’s Assistant Controller partners with others across our company and within our department to improve both the quality of our financial data and the processes we use. The Assistant Controller is a leader, a coach, and someone hands-on in the completion of work and in performing financial analysis.
What You Do
Our Assistant Controller overseeing Payroll, Subcontractor Financial Analysis and Field Accounting, establishes a collaborative environment for accounting teams, focuses on quality, customer service, and process improvement. In this newly created role, you’ll lead by example and will collaborate with others to solve challenges and develop the skills of those around you so that our team delivers great work and is well-prepared for growth.
Develop expert knowledge in Sellen’s existing processes and implement thoughtful, complete, and often detailed process improvements.
Establish the focus for the team and foster teamwork to achieve results.
Perform hands-on analysis and review of our subcontractors’ financial statements.
Oversee Subcontractor financial qualification reviews and related Subcontract Default Insurance program. Assist with corporate level insurance program.
Leverage and adopt technology to improve the quality and value of our work.

What You Bring
Leadership, resilience, and persistence to implement change and collaboration that leads a team through the obstacles or challenges that comes with change.
Adaptability and curiosity to learn our business, understand processes and recognize the needs of others when making decisions and implementing improvements.
Strong technical expertise and aptitude for reviewing the financial statements and insurance provisions of construction subcontractors, sound payroll knowledge of federal taxes and Washington State and local taxes and requirements.
Experience with an in integrated ERP system and the use of sub-ledgers as well as a preferred familiarity and working knowledge of SQL table relational knowledge (strongly preferred).
Strong ownership of the work and commitment to high quality.
Experience with construction and general contractor requirements (strongly preferred).
