New England’s leading commercial mechanical contractor is looking to hire a full-time Chief Financial Officer, as the current Chief Financial Officer will soon retire. Our organization has been servicing customers for over 71 years throughout Massachusetts. The CFO’s primary function is to oversee all functions in the area of accounting and finance, in a service and construction environment.
Position Summary:
Maintains sound fiscal and financial controls in accordance with GAAP and recognizes construction accounting procedures. Monitors and enforces compliance of corporate policies of the company. Serves as prime contact with Insurance, Bonding, Banking and Auditor representatives. The CFO is responsible for cash management and the accuracy of the financial reporting. This position will report directly to the president and acts as the operational leader of finance and administration.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of related companies.
- Manage accounting, human resources, employee benefits and accounting staff.
- Review job costing and related percent complete calculations and WIP schedule.
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage and negotiate pricing.
- Directs the procedures and computer application systems necessary to maintain proper records.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement allowing for efficiencies and automation.
- Maintain all third-party relationships including, Banking, Insurance and Audit.
- Oversee the subcontractor prequalification and certification process.
Qualifications:
- Must have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a small to mid-sized company.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Construction and or service industry knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledge of Job costing and Work-in-Process schedules is preferred.
- Must have strong knowledge of accounting software and familiar with MS Office, project management and estimating software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance at a minimum.
