Established General/Heavy Civil Engineering Contractor seeking Controller to lead the accounting department.
Annual revenue is $50 – 75 million per year.
Non-union contractor with 120 employees.
We self-perform 75% of our projects as a GC.The majority of projects are for public agencies.
General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
Experience with job costing, earned value, and percent complete analysis preferred.
Evaluating existing processes and making recommendations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting.
Researching technical accounting issues for compliance with GAAP.
Supporting month-end and year-end close process.
Providing training on accounting processes.
Monitoring and confirming financial condition by conducting audits and establishing internal controls; providing information to external/internal auditors.
Provide a system of management cost reports.
Analyze and organize the financial statements.
Responsible for prevailing wage updates to accounting system.
Manage budget process and mentor management team on its use.
Provide information to guide President and managers in achieving objectives in the form of advice, reports, and charts.
Improve cash flow through cash management/treasury.
Manage outside CPA/Tax/Bank relationships.
Develop and implement accounting controls, policies and procedures to ensure that the assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures of the organization are properly stated and accounted for in the GL.
Daily online banking monitoring and reconciliation.
Additional duties as needed.

Education and Experience:
7+ years within a Senior Accounting role with at least five years in the construction industry.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Results oriented, with little supervision.
Excellent organizational skills, coupled with effective and concise communication skills.
Proficient in public works labor requirements including prevailing wage (California and Davis Bacon).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Software - Proficient in Viewpoint Vista and Office 365.
