As the Director of Accounting, you will have a unique opportunity to work for a highly successful, fast paced, construction company. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, you will be primarily responsible for leading a team and ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
As an administrative office worker and as an accounting professional, exercises discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance directly impacting the general business operations and its customers
Encouraged to use creativity and independent thinking in deciding how best to get the job done in a safe, high quality, simple, and efficient manner
Works under loose, indirect supervision using broad parameters and general guidelines; has the authority to create his or her own procedures or policies for accomplishing the work; can deviate from existing procedures without prior approval
Carries out major assignments in conducting the business operations of by preparing financial statements and supporting schedules to inform senior management, on a monthly basis
Supervises AP and AR groups
Closes the books monthly
Analyzes financial statements on a monthly basis and reports on variances
Assists with financial and tax audits
Assists with the preparation of tax returns
Documents and monitors internal controls
Responsible for maintaining the general ledger
Fixed asset processing and reporting
Performs bank reconciliations and reviews bank statements
Researches and reconciles all discrepancies
Provides managerial accounting in the form of financial analyses of business segments
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, attending seminars, and participating in professional organizations
Continuously seeks to improve the efficiency of processes
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of construction accounting experience is required
Managerial accounting experience
Familiar with U.S. GAAP
Demonstrated ability to close books
Excellent attendance is required
CPA a plus
Ability to enter data accurately
Attention to detail
Communicate effectively with all areas within the business
