The successful candidate for this position in 2018 will be hired with the intention to be transitioned into the role of CFO on or about the time of the current CFO’s retirement in 2020 and will, therefore, be expected to meet the competencies and carry out the essential functions of the CFO position by that time. Position Description: Maintain complete and accurate financial records of Ulliman Schutte Construction and related entities. Coordinate business activities relating to internal and external customers, auditors, banks, taxing authorities and others to assure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and construction accounting guidance, federal, state and local laws and sound business practices. Drive the continuous improvement of Accounting and Financial systems and processes to meet the business requirements of the Company and achieve best practices and optimal output. Essential Duties: 1.Train, supervise and manage qualified employees so all Company accounting systems, internal controls and policies and procedures are followed and result in complete, accurate and fiscally sound financial records in all aspects. 2.Prepare financial reporting and analysis packages for employees, management and owners as requested by the CFO. 3.Coordinate all audit activity with outside auditors, taxing and regulatory agencies. 4.Manage operating budget preparation, analysis and periodic comparison to actual results. 5.Ensure that all required tax returns and forms are filed and payments made accurately and timely. 6.Provide accounting support to CFO in the management of insurance programs, profit sharing plan and other benefit plans. 7.Provide coaching, guidance, and support, as well as professional development plans helping employees reach their full potential (department of 6-8 staff). 9.Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the software applications used in the accounting functions on an annual basis
Qualifications: Integrity/Professionalism, Technical Competence, Leadership, Financial Management, Personal Effectiveness / Initiative, Business Acumen, Strategic Thinking, Communication Proficiency
Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting,Active CPA license. Minimum 15 years working knowledge of construction accounting, tax and finance with at least 5 years supervisory experience. MBA or CCIFP a plus.
