•Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) for various entities including the residential portfolio, and investment entities; prepare variance analyses.
•Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis which includes reviewing loan documentation, contracts and leasing agreements to ensure proper accounting; prepare journal entries; prepare and process depreciation and amortization entries
•Prepare journal entries, worksheets, reconciliations and other documentation to ensure that transactions are recorded in accordance with Income Tax basis and/or GAAP; prepare year-end work papers for income tax filings; assist with year-end audits of the project entities; prepare 1099’s at year end
•Reconcile all intercompany accounts; process payments
•Reconcile Accounts Payable reports to General Ledger
•Prepare deposits; make bank runs for deposits and other needs, as requested
•Maintain all project and partner loan accounts; calculate interest when appropriate and process payments
•Supervise accounts payable processing for jv entities; verify proper account coding, approval, support and timely processing
•Reconcile all bank accounts; prepare weekly cash report; manage petty cash fund
•Maintain real estate tax files and ensure timely payment of tax bills; work with the attorneys hired to protest real estate taxes and ensure all taxes are protested when applicable
•Monitor and manage property acquisition earnest deposits and non-construction escrow deposits, track interest earned and monitor accounts and deadlines
•Manage all condo / single family home sale earnest deposits and upgrade deposits; work with Vice President, Marketing & Administration to track all sales, upgrades, premiums, discounts, etc.
•Reconcile intercompany accounts
•Maintain the integrity of the accounting system (Timberline) by weekly reconciliation and closing modules as needed
•Reconcile and support balance sheet accounts as requested
•Prepare and/or assist with preparation and distribution of all paperwork required for closings; prepare journal entries for condo / home sales / closings; process applicable check requests
•Process all property management billings to tenants, including monthly, year end and special billings, where required; process payments, maintain lease files; follow up with tenants regarding any unpaid rent.
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2 years related experience preferred
•Excellent working knowledge of Excel; proficient in other MS Office applications
•Experience with Timberline / Sage accounting system preferred
•Ability to set priorities, plan, organize and accomplish tasks, often within strict time limitations
•Ability to handle multiple projects; strong analytical and problem-solving skills
