SUMMARY: Supports the Assistant Chief Financial Officer with the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. Oversees and mentors accounting staff to encourage a strong and cohesive team dedicated to the goal of supporting the company’s overall objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the Assistant CFO by performing the following duties and responsibilities with the Assistant CFO’s approval and oversight:
Establishes bank relationships for cash accounts; Manages cash; outgoing wires and transfers, maintains cash balances.
Manages and supervises Accounting Department staff including the Assistant Controller, Accounts Payable Specialists, Credit Specialist, and Payroll Clerk as directed by the Assistant CFO to provide an efficient team to perform the department’s accounting, reporting, and related functions.
Signs and reviews all payroll and accounts payable checks.
Prepares reports which summarize company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
Responsible for system tie-outs, reconciliations, financial analysis, and general ledger entries.
Assists the Assistant CFO with preparation of financial statements.
Engages in cash forecasting for jobs and companies; Manages the cash flow for the organization in coordination with Assistant CFO.
Arranges for audits of company's accounts, including union audits, line of credit audits, and all others as required.
Assists in preparation of documents for annual CPA audit.
Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies under direction of Assistant CFO.
Prepares sales tax returns under direction of Assistant CFO.
Engages in all year-end activity including W-2’s and all necessary reconciliations.
Assess and implement accounting process improvements.
Establish and manage constructive relationships throughout the organization and with all stakeholders.
Oversees staffing of department with qualified personnel, performs timely evaluations and supports development of staff throughout all positions in the department.
Other activities as may be requested by the Assistant CFO.
